  1. Dearest Rachel !
The holidays are very hard and negative for me. But I made my mind made up that I would make this bean and ham soup! And let me me tell you my Tomas is impressed with this bean and ham soup! 2 weeks ago we were freezing in SOUTH TEXAS! I HAVE ISSUES WITH MY HEALTH that makes it hard to do even the slightest. I fortunately have a husband that loves to cook but very basic! I made this soup today and it was delicious! Thank you you for sharing your recipes because most people will not share. I am sorta new to your channel and you are awesome!, I kinda stay hidden in the crowd! But I have made a couple of your awesome recipes! You are so classy and awesome. Thank you for giving me a reason to get up and cook an amazing meal! I will give my Tomas a list of groceries and he is dumbfounded at times but I am preparing a surprise someday!!!! Thank you for being such a good teacher of cooking and having the spirit of the most high!

  2. I'm going to cook these today. I've had heart issues so I'm taking it easy on the pork. Bought a smoked turkey sausage to put in with some left over ham. Saw the smoked neck bones at the store this morning but I thought I better not. I will stay close to recipe but will use some canned tomatoes, no paste. Everything else according to recipe.

I have always soaked beans overnight. I had heard that soaking them overnight in cold water, then rinsing them would reduce flatulence…aka gas. My experience tells me its true.

  3. If this recipe is as good as it looks, it's incredible. Only problem I ran into was trying to print the recipe or find a recipe book or anything. So, I just wrote and paused the video until I got what I think is the recipe. If you have a recipe book, I would really like one. Thank you for all your videos. I've tried some of them and they are delicious.

  4. OH MY GOODNESS! I made this yesterday and thankfully we have leftovers. I used mixed soup beans and a ham hock because that's what I had on hand. I've made ham and bean soup for years but this one is the best. Soup beans come with a little packet of seasoning that I have never trusted. With the spices in this recipe, you can just throw that away. Thank you, Rachael. I look forward to making more of your recipes.
