A day in my life of eating with Type 1 Diabetes, low carb edition! ◉ Subscribe:

New Year, Same Me! Come along with me in a day of ripped out infusion sets, my favorite protein bars, and of course eating – low carb edition!

I get a ton of comments asking if I’m low carb, keto or any of the various other diets floating around out there. Though I don’t subscribe to any diet in particular, these comments have inspired me to make a video showing you what a low carb day in my life looks like, when I choose to eat that way. I hope you find it useful and helpful!

  1. Low Carb edition, yay! I bought a variety pack of NuGo Slim bars and though I don't like dark chocolate, I was surprised at how good they are, of course, I've only had the peanut and the toasted coconut. I love tea so I'll try the ginger, lemon, & hot water tonight. 😊

  2. I'm a type 1 diabetic trying to lose weight…i've lost 45 pnds before on keto and between unemployment then covid, a lot of being at home has been involved. I also started having a problem with my thyroid…just great. I found a type of noodles at winco that have only 10 carbs in a whole package and I use that for many dishes…glad to see a skinny type 1 is possible! lol…it's so tough when you have gained so much weight over the years…but i'm never giving up and i hope others know it's best to try keto for diabetes management…my blood sugars went from an A1C of 13 down to 7.2 for over 2yrs now…so at least that part has remained sonsistent

  3. How do I loose weight with T1d all I do is keep gaining and I just turned 16 I’m 65 kgs and I wanna be 52kgs anything would help I developed a bad habit of not taking insulin until the point that I go into DKA which I don’t get treatment for and just wait it out but I’d rather be skinny then take insulin and this sucks cause I don’t don’t want that to be the reason I die (honestly looking forward to dying) should I go low carb ? Or count calories cause I want to keep my blood sugar levels in normal range but also loose excess body fat

  4. Andrea I just want to tell you that I have gone through almost all of your videos and you are such a gift to this T1D community. I have been a diabetic through my teens, 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and now I’m in my 50’s. Listening to you talk about everything I have been through over the years with such clarity is so touching because you are helping so many people. I feel reawakened that yes I’m a T1D, and it’s okay and I’m not alone. And yes, I would love to see you do a video about the good things about being a diabetic because there are lots of good things and I’m sure you will articulate it beautifully.❤️🌹

  5. I am going in 4 days to get tested for type 2 diabetes I am terrified, I am 15 years old and have no clue what to do, maybe a year or so ago when I last got my blood drawn I was right on the edge of being a type 2 diabetic and then family drama happened and i havent gotten blood drawn I went to the doctor for a check up and she said my weight was out of control since the last time i saw her and she wanted me to get blood drawn, so I am very scared. I have watched your video on how to treat low blood sugar and I was wondering how do you treat high blood sugar do you take insulin, drink water. I can't even begin with the quesitons, I have done some research on the symptoms and i have some of them and I am really scarred I dont want to live with this and not be able to cope if I do have it I am really hoping that you could give me some tips on what to do I will conitnue watching your videos for more information you are absoloutly amazing

  6. Thank you for this video! As I've mentioned on another video of yours, I've had T1 Diabetes since I was 8 years old, so I've had it for 32 years at this point. Your situation with the pump site getting pulled out by the door really hit home for me, because it's happened more than once to me. However, what you do to address it is different than what I do. I do not start completely over. What I do is I take the Pump site applicator and just apply it to a new site. I then remove the long string and get rid of it. My pump will still have the original string that was pulled out (Don't know what else to call it), I would then just attach it to my new pump site. This way, I don't throw out Insulin that is still good, and I don't go through all of my supplies quicker. I do check my blood sugar to make sure nothing is off, and for the most part, I'm usually good. I then change the site when it's either been 3 days from the site switch, or when my insulin supply is low. Have you done this? Hope you're well and healthy!

  7. I just watched your libre video from 2 years ago, I’m working in Germany for a year or so and my doctor over here suggested I try the libre to get a hand on my A1C. He gave me the libre 2 trial kit with one sensor and I am absolutely thrilled that I can now know what my sugar is at all times without pricking myself which I do not do as often as I should. I can control my sugar before it gets too high or too low, type 2 diabetic.

  8. I would love for you to do a video on unexpected positives of having T1D! I love how you answer questions to the fullest and from all aspects! I think it is so important to acknowledge how difficult living with T1D is, no matter how well you are managing, but also how to turn it into a positive thing.

  9. Thanks for your note from an hour ago Andrea. You are very welcome. For what it is worth, and to make it easier to spot at the store, the Trader Joe's non-cheese pesto sauce I referred to six days ago is called "Vegan Kale, Cashew & Basil Pesto" and comes in a clear round plastic container that is about an inch and a half high and about about 4 and a half inches in diameter. I often sprinkle parmesan cheese into my pasta when I use this pesto product. Enjoy. Is Trader Joe's in London?

  10. Hi Andrea. Six days ago I commented on your above video and mentioned using pesto sauce with pasta as an alternative to tomato sauce. You liked that idea. I since found one pesto product you and your followers might want to try. It apparently has no cheese products in it. I have used it. I am not sure you or they saw my new comment as it is within the "View 2 replies from She's Diabetic and others" statement in blue right below my comment from 6 days ago. It is a Trader Joe's product. Enjoy!
