  1. Ah, I see. Save the effort and don't feed vegan food to non vegans. It's not good. You can become accustomed to it, after a while, but its still throwing good monwy after bad. just don't bother. Or don't flip out if people bring their own not gross, bird based food. Which is delicious

  2. I’ve been vegan for decades and I’m sorry but, her farro “salad” is definitely not something a non vegan would ever enjoy which the video title says! The thing I learned after all these decades is vegans do not stay vegan because they don’t like the food. Even though I’m a super healthy vegan Thanksgiving is a great time to not think about calories or fat and use this holiday to show non vegan that vegan food is delicious. Again I’d stay away from serving that farro salad because they’ll be stopping for burgers on the way home…make traditional Thanksgiving food vegan, it’s as simple as that.

  3. So I don't celebrate thanksgiving. I do a harvest dinner. I honestly believe it's more historically relevant to have a 3 sisters dish as the focal point instead of a turkey – because that's how thanksgiving started! Settlers couldn't survive and harvest crops until the native americans showed them proper farming methods of the corn + beans + squash!

    So my focal point of decorating is the cornucopia – it represents the wheat harvest! I don't eat wheat – so it's decoration! I would do sorghum if I chose a wheat substitute.

    My turkey substitute would be the 3 sisters – corn + black beans in a pumpkin or acorn squash (acorn squash tastes better and looks more decorative, but pumpkins look more like a turkey!). Raw acorn squash seeds taste so amazing!

    The theme for the decor is to make my plate look like a forest floor – filled with deep, rich colors of fall leaves – like beet red to mustard yellow to vibrant, planty pea green! I posted a spreadsheet of the harvest dinner foods on my personal website.

    Then I try to eat native american foods for the sides:
    – acorn bread
    – wild rice

    I also strive for being as unprocessed as possible:
    – corn on the cob

    After that I do:
    – nut roast – chestnuts, cranberries, wild rice
    – carrots

    I really am always striving to know how to make a better harvest dinner if others have ideas!

  4. I will post what is my version of a 'traditional' thanksgiving from a northeast US perspective (and then what others do), then my substitutes:
    – turkey
    – corn
    – mashed potatoes
    – gravy
    – cranberry jelly
    – stuffing
    – biscuits
    – pumpkin pie
    – apple pie
    – baked apple

    – green bean casserole
    – steamed greens
    – asparagus
    – sweet potato pie
    – sweet potato

    my substitutes:
    – nut roast for turkey
    – mashed potatoes are only potatoes – nothing else

  5. Chuck's thanksgiving is so much different than mine! We had mashed potatoes, corn, cranberries, stuffing, etc. – kind of like the Boston Market style! I feel if I'm going to treat a meat eater, I probably would replicate theirs – simply because theirs is popularized. The issue with Boston Market – is that it's a little southern style – which might not be everyone's type of thanksgiving. Macaroni and cheese was a rarity and when we had it – it was so brand new, but eventually got added in! I don't really remember eating greens – like Boston Market with their creamed spinach, but greens are acceptable at a thanksgiving table.

    Definitely no brownies, etc. I think vegans definitely have more creativity with their food options for thanksgiving – really spreading out what they can replace the turkey with – now that it's gone. However, I notice meat eaters like to keep it simple and go with what they're familiar with – they don't like change (otherwise they'd go vegan). So for those who eat turkey still – I would try to take what they eat and try to keep it as similar as possible – so they can't eat because they're too shocked over unknowns and not understanding what's going on! Thanksgiving is supposed to be about coming together and being happy. I really opt for that feel – of festivities – and sharing where each other comes from – and how we've grown, rather than forcing it.

  6. I didn't know the lentil loaf tastes better than a nut roast! I think I did try a nut roast one time now that I remember – it needs a high heat – simply because it's nuts. So it's hard to cook through and if you do, you might burn it. I think those work flattened, but now I'm thinking of making it like a turkey – where you gotta baste it in juices to actually cook! Nuts are like regular meat – it requires a lot of poking a prodding to cook. So I would recommend pre-cooking the nuts to avoid undercooking worries – especially since nuts can have toxins in them! That's why we don't eat much of it – but I always like to go festive!

  7. Please pray for me this Thanksgiving. As a single mother things are difficult on me. My husband passed years ago I’m alone. I’m overwhelmed at times because both of my children are autistic. I’m struggling trying to support them and myself because like so many others. I lost my job as a social worker at Forsyth hospital because I declined the vaccine. I declined because of my pre existing health condition lupus and heart disease. I was denied my medical/religious exemption. I wish I could go back to the hospital but the mandate is still in place for hospitals that participate in Medicare and Medicaid. I’m waitressing and I’m so thankful to be working again, but I’m not making nearly enough to make ends meet. I get harassed and called names for simply asking for prayers, but prayers are all we need. Thankfully God gives me strength to keep going. I have faith God will provide. He HAS THIS FAR. WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! Please pray for me and my children.
