Hi Doctor. Can you rinse regular rice first also to get some of the carbs out? Also, there is quick barley, but I'm assuming it's not the same as the Pearl Barley you were referring to.
What about wild rice?
Actually Basmati rice is low GI. I've been eating that for a while as a T2 and no spikes,and have had great weight loss, levels in the 5s(mmol/L).This is true for long and short grain.
Rice is like grass seeds, it gets stuck in your system. And releases TOO MUCH BAD CARBS! 👎I DO NOT TRUST THIS GUY! NO RICE!

Uncle Ben's Converted Brown Rice is 20 on the GI and the White is 22 GI. For someone who only eats rice if I'm having beans and rice 1 or 2x a month, because I'm not a rice eater other than that, that's better than the Quinoa and it's an alternative for people who like rice.
Rice is toxic…run from rice!
With all due respect, since you're not a diabetic and I am, my advice to diabetic is stay as far away from rice as possible. The same goes far starches and sugars. When using the glycemic index, go far the lowest things as possible. Let your glucose meter have the final say. Rice and starches including quinoa and barley can not only spike your blood sugar, but a little bit can taken a long time to recover.
I grew up on rice and still love it today so thank you for the substitute options. Definitely checking out that Shirataki Rice.

I checked out your recipe you made with your family and I planning to make that for my dinner today I even bought Barley, Cauliflower Rice.

Why you do not come to the poinr? Too long without conclutions.
I find that Indians and Sri Lankans eat a lot of rice in one meal. Why not first reduce the proportion and increase the curry. Rather than stop it all together.
This helps me a lot. My husband was recently diagnosed and rice is a favorite for us.

I love ❣️ rice, but I recently "discovered" cauliflower rice and I totally love it especially with chicken 🍗 or fish 🐠 and other veggies and I can feel the difference in my body.

OMG, brown rice with butter, salt and soy sauce, and parmesan cheese. Love it! I haven't eaten it in over a year and my A1C is down from 7.3 to 6.1. BOOM!

Great ideas, have will try, not been eating rice, n family is Mexican, unheard of not to eat rice.
That means Indians most of them eat rice but in India less diabetes than Europe . Rice alone doesn't cause diabetic ..what you drink that is important soft drinks and all sweet drinks.
It appears that parboiled rice is not available in America. It helps diabetics.

Rice only raises my glucose to 113. But when I'm worried about eating too many carbs, I have a cup of water with 1 T of apple cider vinegar. And boom, no issues.
Issues for me might be headaches, the shakes .. stuff that comes from a hypoglycemic response.
Do you have any info on Celiac?
Basmati rice cooked and than drain the starch, it basically has low GI, and eat it with lentils and veggies, it’s fine.

Thr diabetes canada suggest that the diabetics should eat parboiled rice which is very low in GI. What are your views?
