I added this keto philly cheesesteak recipe to my go-to recipes. My kids loved this and they have requested it almost every week since I first made it. And I love that it takes about 15 minutes to make and only involves a few ingredients.

KETO PHILLY CHEESESTEAK
Serves: 6

2 tablespoons avocado oil
2 pounds ground beef
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
1/2 cup diced yellow onion
6 slices American cheese
3 slices provolone cheese
keto bun, optional

1️⃣ Heat avocado oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add ground beef and cook for 2-3 minutes. Stir in salt, garlic powder and black pepper. Continue to cook until beef is no longer pink.
2️⃣ Finely dice green bell pepper and onions into small pieces.
3️⃣ Stir in bell pepper and onion. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until slightly softened.
4️⃣ Lower the heat to low-medium. Top with American cheese and provolone cheese. Cover and let cook for 2-3 more minutes. Stir melted cheese into ground beef. Serve by itself or over a toasted low carb bun.

  1. This looks good. I would sub the green bell pepper for red, though, as I cannot stand the flavor of green bell peppers. Likewise, I think I would use shredded cheddar in lieu of the processed American cheese, as again, I am not fond of the flavor of the former. I could also see this done with green chilies. It might not still qualify as Philly cheese steak, but I'd bet that it'd still be really tasty.

  2. Is American cheese 100% real cheese?

    American cheese isn't even considered to be real cheese. It's called a "pasteurized cheese product." While it was originally a blend of different cheeses like Colby and cheddar, now the American cheese we see in the likes of Kraft Singles is not made with at least 51 percent of real cheese.20 July 2017

  4. Do you have a good keto roll? Most I’ve seen have wheat gluten etc.

    This looks great! I’m a Philly native and green peppers aren’t necessary- a few people use them, but it’s not standard- mushrooms and onions are great though and fit perfectly into our low carb lifestyle
