This may hands down be the best egg salad recipe of all time and is jam-packed with onion, celery, garlic, pickles, and mayonnaise on toasted bread. You will be blown away at just how good this is.
Egg salad is a simple bound salad consisting of diced hard-boiled eggs with mayonnaise, seasonings, and vegetables. It is incredibly simple to make and a great recipe to use if you have a lot of leftover hard-boiled eggs.
Egg Salad has been around since the late 19th century and was adapted early on with the use of mayonnaise, transitioning from butter. They became popular throughout the United States because it was easy to make with always in-season ingredients, and it was high in protein and low in carbohydrates.
There is nothing overly fancy about the egg salad but can be customized to your liking and your budget.

Great job. Love eggs
Instead of the capers and pickles, we use India relish….it wouldn’t be egg salad without it 😊
Cool 😎 egg slicer, I had no idea there was a slicer for eggs 🥚 other than using a knife 🔪 by hand.
A spider ladle thing is super fast for dicing up the eggs. I push one or two at a time through it and it’s perfect
Oh my gosh…I have one of those egg slicers and I have never used it for this…and I make egg salad quite a bit! You are a life saver!
A big hit for cookout is my egg salad sandwich salad.
It's egg salad with the bread on the inside, in the form of croutons.
I add some mayo to the croutons directly and let them rest together while i prep the rest. That time gives them a little crunch but not overwhelming.
The eggs I get the yolks out and mash into mayo and get nice and creamy, but the whites I leave half larger slightly larger than croutons. When you look at it should see egg, not croutons. The rest of egg I chop to same size as onion and celery. (All of these I chop to same size as relish pieces, which i use instead of pickles.) I've only ever made with Dijon mustard but I'll try with both and check it out. I've never tried with capers before I'll probably try the next time I buy some for chicken piccata.. I also have tossed in some lemon zest to brighten it up but I also use black pepper in mine and I bought my first ever bottle of lemon pepper so I may replace with that if I make the salad this summer.
Yum 😋 I'm going to try your method of making hard boiled eggs. I don't care if the hard boiled eggs aren't perfect when making egg salad but how annoying when trying to shell the eggs for deviled eggs 🙄 I notice farm fresh eggs are impossible to shell? If i buy white eggs from a supermarket they are much easier to shell why is that? Recipe looks great! Thanks again. 💙
Well this sure makes my egg salad sandwiches look plain and boring! Yours look and sound delicious. I'm going to surprise my family with "Gormet Egg Salad!" Thanks Chef!!!
Yum! Looks fantastic! I'm allergic to chicken eggs. So I eat duck eggs. Their pretty large, about 30% larger. What would you recommend for the cooking time for them? Love your channel!
I love your recipes and techniques, I'm just curious why everybody, I mean EVERYBODY chop the f**ing garlic and nobody uses garlic press anymore? Is there a curse or something? It's not easier, not tastier, not anything to chop it. So, what's the point?
Your videos are getting so good these days. Your personality is really beginning to show. Keep up the good work!
Guess what's for dinner at my house tonight on this hot summer day. Over 100 degrees in Memphis TN and this is perfect! Thank you so much and please pass along my gratitude to your wife for bringing the egg slicer. I cant function without mine either.
Hello Chef,
When using jumbo eggs would you still keep it at 6 min on and off?
Thanx, Chef Billy, for sharing your egg salad recipe, and the tutorial for cooking hard boiled eggs. Fabulous!
How is your GARDEN 😀please please post updates
Im going to try this. I like egg salad but I havent had it in years because its usually pretty sad looking. But this looks much better. I started steaming my eggs a few months ago and it makes a big difference. Plus you use a lot less water and that little bit of water boils super fast. I just use a bamboo steamer over a pot. Add maybe an inch of water. very simple.
It looks great chef. Thanks🙏❤️🥚🥒
you can also just steam steam the eggs for 6mins, same texture if you do a simmer instead of a rolling boil.
Add some tuna and ya get tuna salad!
Good recipe.
I use my potato masher to mash up the eggs
A bit complicated for my liking, not even sure I’d call an ‘egg’ salad. I’d probably cut the extras down by half, except for the mayo & mustards.
Looks delicious, Chef Billy. Thanks for sharing your egg cooking, peeling & dicing method.
That looks amazing! I've never had capers. Are they similar in taste to anything?
Looks great!
Love egg salad. Chef BILLY.
Thanks for your sharing and I from Hongkong
Save your eggshells for your new garden!
I’ve always added dill pickles but the capers sound like a new winner for me. I like your need for your slicer:) I use the smaller gauge net bags when I buy lemons or limes. Just put your egg in the net and squeeze it through. Works great for me.
