I love soups of any kind. Chowders are hearty and yep, calorie laden, but everything in moderation. I enjoy some sort of soup every day for lunch….homemade, of course, with lots of different veggies.

We make all kinds of soups in our house all year round. My family's favorite is cheeseburger soup. I've made soups like cheddar broccoli then add stuff like potatoes, carrots, onions an this last time we added shrimp wow that was good. People make fun of my chilli cause I use celery, onions and carrots in it. They call it Yankee chilli. I grew up in a family of diabetics so I was always taught celery was better than salt an carrots was better then sugar.

Looks really good ! But… I think I'm on your husbands side, I like my chowders with less soup & more stuff !! lol PS. Don't forget about that Bay Leaf. I know they're hard to find sometimes.

Hello Miss Paula – I had a Eureka! moment this morning  while having some flapjacks and bacon and thinking .  – and had to rush out to buy the ingredients for a Special  Pork  Family Dinner which I'm calling "Pasture, Pen and Patch::" A combination of braised Spring Lamb and Pork Belly, and, as a side dish – fingerling potatoes and cabbage gently pan roasted in  lots of butter. I can't wait to make this for my family tonight and serve the leftovers to the Family Dog.

Missouri we have chowders . I made in the colder weather a vegetable chowder, a ham and cheddar chowder and my favorite is salmon chowder.

If you use frozen cream corn it is much better.

Could I substitute the Italian sausage with smoked sausage?

I live in PA was brought up in Brooklyn and Long Island NY and dream of Savannah (holidays every winter). I love southern cooking but in the chowder/soup department, my go-to is always chicken wing soup w/ root vegetables. I think its a mixture of all of the above. Love your videos & you are special.
