Does the poor man have no measuring cups & spoons?????? Such a cheap & important piece of kitchen equipment
Boy you are really messy. I wouldn’t let you cook in my kitchen.
Love Julia, love you! Love watching you. It’s reassuring to see you go through the same baffling shit I experience following Julia’s wonderful recipes. Thank you so much for your videos. I laugh till I cry.
At risk of looking like a jerk, tomato puree = tomato paste, not pureed tomatoes. 🙂
I've been making Soup au Pistou for years from Julia Childe's last/famous cookbook (The Way to Cook). In my opinion, the latter version is superior. Note that pistou is the French version of Italian pesto (which is added at the table in a dollop in the latter version). Also, use fresh basil. It makes a big difference. Finally, this recipe didn't call for saffron? Saffron is the magic ingredient in Soup au Pistou. With all that said, I'm enjoying your vids, mistakes and all. They remind me of when I first started tackling Julia's recipes.
I love the taste of saffron,
you should try risotto Milanese which is rice, beef stock, saffron, and Parmesan
Hihihi actually LEGUMES is the french term for vegetables. For beans, we say LÉGUMINEUSE. But thumbs up for practicing your french thats not easy
again, a tip: put a kitchen towel under the mixing bowl so it won't whirl like a dervish.
I’m cackling at the beans in the strainer moment where you just go brain dead for a minute
The legume music: I almost choked on my dinner! 😂
Why do you translate American weights into metric? Just push the button. 😆 You get the same North American scales we do.
Dude out here looking and sounding like the guy who played chuck in supernatural
You didn't have much luck with tinned things 😂
But it turned out looking amazing, could do with a big bowl of that right now.
Even though the ‘Me and Julia Child recipes’ series has been done before, I’m loving the modern twist on this.❤️
I'm a new subscriber to this channel, and these videos stress me out in the most delightful way. 😅
I’m literally sitting here eating a bowl of this magnificent soup thanks to you, Jamie. I’ve enjoyed cooking for many years but this got past my radar. It’s now at the top of my favourites list. That Pistou is magical. I so love your channel because you’re a joy to watch and I learn all these fantastic new recipes. Thanks from lockdown in Ontario❣️
Edit: Forgot to say that I used black beans cuz that’s what I had, I don’t know if that’s blasphemous but it was delicious.
This looks really good! I have flagged it to try in my own kitchen. I'm glad you left the boo-boo parts in. I think we all have days like that. It's good to be able to laugh at yourself sometimes! 😀 But please, Jamie, get yourself a decent can opener! I'd hate for you to cut yourself one day.
Hey Jamie! Really loving these videos! It really inspired me to take on Julia's cookbook as well!
😍🙌🏻💝
Please buy a swing away can opener. You will love it.
I think I may make this and if I film it I will let my views know you were the inspiration behind it
Oh my gosh Jamie you have such a creative mind how you came up with the music for the beans and tomatoes . Omgsh. Love it.
Love your channel ❤ because I cook👩🍳 just like you, 😆 getting my kitchen messy, cut vegetables like you, throw ingredients in the pot, no measuring spoon for spices 🤗 just eye ball it & having fun! Oh yeah, praying 🙏 it comes out tasty 🤔
AND.. It does 👌😁
Thank you for being so down to earth!!
Watching from Hawaii …
🏝 🌞 🏄♀️🤙
Hiya! I see a lack of YouTube videos on making the French dessert Mont Blanc which was one of my favs in Paris. I’d love to see u recreate one…or Paris Brest which was a fav too. I want to make both! Bon Appetite!
Great video! I watched it and made the soup today 😁 really delicious! Measuring diced vegetables with cups is a bit weird, but the result is totally worth it
i laughed so hard hahah but seeing you enjoy it, i am determined to make this asap!
Going to make it. Serving it with a rustic bread. Thanks jamie
Why have I NEVER thought to break spaghetti into smaller pieces and use them in soup 🥴😅. Also a fan of basic soups. They're generally quick to make and SOOOO comforting!
the music 😂😂😂 looks amazing jamie!
👍👍🤲🤲
I love a good Vegetable soup
I had made that mistake with beans… glad you saved them 🤭.. and I never use garlic mincer.. because it real pain to squeze it and to clean it after. I just grate it on the finest grater.. a lot easier and quicker
Bon appetit, says Julia
so (so) glad you didn’t slice your hand open with the can lids…had me worried a time or ten. phew. soup looked deLISH!
Looks like the perfect winter comfort food to me thanks I’m going to make it (whispering) “but with fresh basil and heirloom white beans “
Thinkin about thos beans 👀
Love watching your adventures in the kitchen! Always am excited when I see you've posted a new one. This one seemed fraught with calamities, but it came out beautifully in the end…bravo! Will have to give this a whirl. : )
That poor onion.
I was dying every time the beans made an appearance and the mysterious music returned. So funny! The soup looked delicious! Glad to see u slurping every last drop up at the end of the video!
are you working on a cookbook?
Nice hearty bowl of soup. Great knife skills
I'm really starting to get into your videos, not sure how many there are or how long you have been posting. Would like to see some earlier videos just to see how much you have improved. I'm pretty good in the kitchen but to create what you do take a challenge in a half. Great work
