  1. Something that will up the cured porkyness of all vegan bacon is the addition of just a bit of ground marjoram in the marinade. Works great in vegan deli slices , too.

    On Gordon's fakon…lose the hot stuff…up the smoke…and turn the marinated tofu into a paste then spread it Thinly in random places….it makes a World of difference.

  2. My vegan bacon…very thinly slice a block of firm tofu, fry until slightly golden. When all the tofu is fried, put it all back into the pan and add soya sauce, smoke and maple syrup. It caramelizes very quickly so you have to work fast flipping the pieces. Voila, bacon. I also crumble it and keep in the fridge to sprinkle on sandwiches and salads. Fantastic. Note: shut off fire alarm or have windows wide open…it can create a lot of smoke. Lesson learned. Lol. To me, this is so bacony that I don't need to complicate such a simple technique. It is so delicious that I have to hide it from myself to keep it long enough in the fridge to use on recipes I originally intended it for.
