Ingredients:
8 cups water
Drizzle of olive oil
4 tbsp soy sauce
3 tbsp rice vinegar
2 tsp chili powder or white pepper
1 tbsp Chinese cooking wine
2 tbsp ginger minced
2 tbsp garlic minced
1/2 cup black fungus rehydrated
1/2 cup dried shiitake mushrooms rehydrated
1/2 cup dried day lilies
1/2 cup firm tofu

Green onion for garnish
Directions:
1. Rehydrate the shiitake and black fungus in the 8 cups of water overnight
2. Mince the garlic and ginger
3. Slice the tofu into strips
4. Carefully remove the stalks from the shiitakes and slice thinly, along with the black fungus
5. In a stock pot on medium high heat, add a drizzle of olive oil

7. Add the rest of the ingredients minus the tofu, green onions, and potato starch

LAY HO MA everyone! Growing up, I always thought that sour soups were a bit weird. However, the hot sour combination had really grown on me and has become one of my all time favourites! Did you also find sour soups weird and grew up to it?
hi Wil, going to make this. How many servings does this make with the 1/2 cup of each of the main ingredients?
Looks yummy indeed. I yet would add a drop of sesame oil at the end to boost the flavour
… One of my favorites… Finally you have made it so easy… Thank you…😎… God is good ❗️
This guy… Best vegan chef ever.
I am now just waiting for them to deliver to South Africa. Then, I'm gonna get the book. Not an e-book person.
why the horrible music for such a great video?
Amazing cook
YUM😫
Mr. Wil you're my hero!! Thank you! 🙏
Instructions to the point and great voice! Huge thank U!
I love this channel so much
Just a tip for destitute hobos like me: get a slow cooker. Take all of your scraps like mushroom stems, garlic ends, carrot tops, potato peelings, apple cores, and so, toss them into your slow cooker with some water, and 12 hours later you have delicious soup. Don't put your banana peels, in though! They're much better in a stir fry. Chop them up and sautee them until they turn translucent. They have the texture of onion, but with a sweeter, slightly banana flavour.
Your channel is so soothing. I love your voice .. it relaxes me.
Love the outtakes!!
Hot and sour soup is my favorite and I like your take on it. Only one suggestion. Add vinegar off the heat , last thing as it's being served. Vinegar looses it's punch if you cook it. Love your page. I watch every episode.
I've just made this soup it took a while to cut all mushrooms. And in chinesse market I had personal helper to find everything I need.
What can I substitute the potato starch with? I have tapioca flour and corn starch.
What are Black Fungus & Day Lillie?
Yummy 😋
I can already smell from here 😍 that's so yummy ty👌👌
Another recipe that turned out better than any of our local takeout places. Thank you Wil!
I was always wondering how to make hot sour soup!!!! Thanks Wil !!!!! I've never heard of black fungus though, hmmmmm? Stay safe as you can😷 😷 😷 😷. ❤️Kathy
I didn't know what to cook today because I wasn't hungry or had any appetite. That has just changed and the appetite is there. Thanks for the recipe and the video. While it is too late for black fungus to soak, I will let them soak in lukewarm water for a bit. I have shiitake fresh there. I'm going to the kitchen now and wish you a nice day.
