Flourless Egg White Keto Tortillas | Keto Taco Shells | 0g Carbs


The third in our flourless egg white range, these tortillas are soft when warm and firm up as they get cold to about the same firmness of a regular tortilla. So they would be great to shape them how you like when warm…perfect for tacos. In this video we show you the results of the experiment and the various tests we put them through.

Taco Shells/Mini Tortillas – Serves 5
Nutritional Information/Serve:
Cal: 148 | Net Carbs: 0.6g | Fiber: 0g | Total Carbs: 0.6g | Fat: 12g | Protein: 11g

Large Tortillas – Serves 3
Nutritional Information/Serve:
Cal: 246 | Net Carbs: 0.9g | Fiber: 0g | Total Carbs: 0.9g | Fat: 20g | Protein: 19g

180g Powdered Cheese (equates to 1 cup + 3 tbsp)
4g/ 1 tsp Baking Powder
3g/ 1 tsp Gelatin Powder
6g/ 2 tsp Xanthan Gum
2 Egg Whites (1/4 cup or 60g)
Pinch Cream of Tartar

Vegan Substitutions:
Use Almond Flour to replace the Cheese
205g/2 cups Almond Flour
Use Agar Agar to replace the Gelatin
You will need a little fat so the dough is not dry, about 1 teaspoon.

  1. followed ur directions to a T, but at first my dough turned out way to wet(did use two large egg whites)maybe the cause?? dried it with a small amount coconut flower, also my cheese may have been too course, if at first u don't succeeded u know the rest

  2. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. Having one recipe that has multiple uses is wonderful! I'm not on a Keto diet, but I've been finding more and more Keto recipes that are perfect for me. My husband could benefit too, and that makes them even more perfect! I usually stay away from tortillas and pasta, but this recipe will allow me to enjoy more of the foods that I love. Thank You Very Much!!

  3. Hi Mel, these tortillas look amazing . I'm mostly impressed with how pliable they are in video. However, my first batch didnt come out that way. I can fold them over in half but thats it. They seems to crisp up a bit.
    I'd really like to make them as pliable as they are in the video. I'm interested in making breakfast burritos with them. anyone have any suggestions ? 😃

  4. Hi Mel, you're doing an awesome job, thank you for taking the time to help me succeed in my keto lifestyle. In my attempt to make these tortillas I decided to double the gelatin excluding the xanthan gum. The dough seemed to come together fine but it was really crumbly and fell apart before and after I pressed them into shape. Do you think this is due to not adding the xanthan gum, if not, please help me? Also, does it matter that my cheese and eggs were NOT at room temperature? Thanks again!!!

  5. Thank you so much, Mel!!! I love this, and I can get back to eating the way my family does. I used to try to make all the different recipes, but I now have 2 young boys living with me. I don't have as much time as I used to. Saturday night is Pizza night, and I have been eating the old way. Now I am going to get back on the Keto wagon, with your Pizza, tortilla, pasta dough. I need this to preserve the good health that the Lord has gifted me with, so I can be here for my grandsons for many years! I am so excited to find you and your wonderful recipes!!
