Easy Homemade French Onion Soup


A classic french onion soup recipe absolutely must have caramelized onions. But Finding one that give you the how and why, is few and far to come. (scroll to the bottom to find me): FOLLOW ME: Instagram: The Subreddit: Twitter: Facebook: —————————- ———————————– Ingredients you’ll need: 3 tablespoons (42g) unsalted butter 1 tablespoon (14g) extra virgin olive oil 3.5 lb (1.5kg) sweet onions / vidalia onions (about 5-6 large) salt to taste 2 tablespoons (30ml) bourbon 11/4 cup (295ml) white wine 1.5 quarts (1.4 liters) good beef stock 1 bunch thyme 3 tablespoons (44ml) dry sherry * optional * To finish: 2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter 2 oz gruyere 2 oz gouda baguette slices or bread slices.

  2. I made it but for a second time and made a small video. It was a blast but none of my friends noticed the effort 🙁 anyway, you can see the video on my channel. Maybe I shouldn't use this song because of rights but that's my cooking song so it was natural for me to make a little bit of home made montage. Anyway, check it out!

  3. I made this and it is really good. But holy cow it takes a lot of onions and it takes a long time to caramelize them, and even then you don't have very much onions in your soup when you are done. If I make it again, I am going to double the amount of onions.
