  1. Actually, all the royal families are under the Padishah Emperor of the known universe. It’s that emperor that hands Arrakis (Dune) to House Atreides. The Emperor is scared of the Duke’s growing prestige and power, so set’s a trap at Arrakis to take the Atreides down. The Baron and House Harkonnen have a long-standing feud with the Atreides, so they gladly step aside to help bring down the Atreides. Duke Leto accepts the honor that comes with managing the planet with the most precious commodity in the universe. Otherwise, leaving the water laden paradise of Caladan for the giant dustball of Arrakis just ain’t worth it.

  2. Minor spoilers: The emperor sees House Atredes as a threat, so he gifts them Dune while secretly giving Harkonnen the green light to take them out.
Chalomet was supposed to be a daughter, but his mom wanted to give the Duke a son. Paul was to marry Harkonnens son and those two would sire the ultimate badass a generation later.
It is really about Chalomets eventual son, becoming God Emperor and his master plan for humanity.
Once it all comes together it is no doubt the best Sci fi story ever told.
Might have been better suited to an episodic TV series, how will they ever make enough movies to get through it all, if this is only half of book 1?

  3. Indiana Jones was my favorite franchise growing up. Still love the 1st and 3rd movies, and some of the books and games, but it's a franchise that is doesn't really need to go on anymore.

Would love to hear you guys break down the Dune series as you did with the Game of Thrones series. Game of Thrones reminded me of the fantasy version of Dune when I first watched the show.

  4. I think that Black Widow focused on women helping women which we haven’t seen in the MCU save the two moments in infinity war and endgame. I think it was an important movie for little girls and women everywhere to see a female superhero not leave one single woman behind (taskmaster). It may not be the best MCU movie but the message of female empowerment is resounding and necessary in a male dominant arena.

  5. Sup nerd soup, love this podcast, been listening for a few years now. I know y’all prolly tired of hearing this, but why not include video of you beautiful people. I’m starting to think Beau is in the witness protection program.

I think video would allow more people to connect with y’all and increase your viewership…. Keep up the content! Most underrated podcast, hands down

  6. Speedy Gonzalez should never be canceled for the simple reason that us Mexicans know how to have fun. As well as we do sound like that.
They actually tried to cancel Speedy a while ago until the Mexican community got angry and demanded they brought him back.
