Crispy tofu is the key to a ton of flavorful asian dishes because it helps to create texture and soak up flavors of any sauce. In this video, I’m taking some really crispy tofu and mixing it with mushrooms to make a Filipino staple dish like sisig, Vegan. Grab the recipe below!

Filipino Vegan Tofu & Mushroom Sisig
½ – yellow onion
1- block of firm tofu,
½ lb – crimini mushrooms & shiitake mushroom mix
½ red bell pepper
4 tbsp of silver swan soy sauce
1 tbsp of pine nuts to give it a meaty flavor (optional)
1 tbsp of cane vinegar
1/4 cup – Vegan Mayo (I use Trader Joe’s Vegan Dressing Spread)
1 tsp – Garlic powder
1 stalk – Green onion for garnish
1 tsp – Rice powder for the tofu
Cracked pepper to taste
Step 1: Prep Tofu
Dice the tofu and get that in the fryer to give them texture and crispiness (7-9 minutes). Once the tofu is done, we’ll lightly season with some garlic powder and salt,, and toasted rice powder for nuttiness.
Step 2: Slice and Dice
While the tofu is frying, prepare the diced onions, peppers, and mushrooms. Set aside for searing. Ready 4 tbsp of soy into mixing cup with 1 tbsp of cane vinegar.
Step 3: Sautee
Next is to fry up the peppers & onions and caramelize the mushrooms together with the pine nuts. When golden browned (about 5 minutes), add in fried tofu and 1/2 sauce mixture. Stir until sauce is evenly distributed. Add cracked pepper, squeeze of lime juice, and remaining sauce.
Step 4: Serve
Kill the heat on the pan, stir in mayonnaise and top with green onions. Serve over bed of jasmine rice with Sriracha sauce to taste. Enjoy!
