  1. For those trying to lose weight:

    Let's do a rundown of the first smoothie's calories

    Half cup of strawberries= 25 cal
    Half cup of raspberries= 33 cal
    Small banana: 90 cal
    Cup of blackberries= 62 cal
    Quarter cup of almond milk= 10
    Half cup of 2 percent plain greek yogurt= 85 cal (this varies depending on brand and sugar/fat content)
    Quarter cup of peanut butter= 380 cal (varies a little depending on brand)

    Total calories in smoothie alone (before toppings) 685

    Now, let's add some toppings (I don't know the amounts in the video, so I'm such putting on what they used in the video in amounts that I would find YUM, and amounts somewhat reflecting what others might use.)
    Putting on half a small banana adds 45 calories
    Another quarter cup of strawberries for another 25
    30 grams of almonds for 173 calories (almond calories vary depending on whether they're raw, roasted, etc..)
    20 grams of blueberries for 11 calories

    My toppings add another 254 calories to this recipe, meaning that with the toppings stated, this berry smoothie bowl would come out at 939 calories.

    Now, I'm not talking about the other health aspects of the recipe, and high calorie doesn't equal bad! This smoothie bowl is an excellent source of fibre, protein, and good fats. It is rather high in sugar, but I think the pros outway the cons here. Would I eat it? Definitely. But this is a perfectly example of forgetting the calorie density of something. If you were on a 1500 calorie a day diet, and had this for breakfast would only leave you with 561 calories for the rest of the day. If you were eating an even lower weight loss diet, you would only be left with 261 calories for the rest of the day.

    Again, I must emphasize HIGH CALORIE DOESN'T EQUAL BAD. CASHEWS ARE VERY CALORICALLY DENSE AND ONE OF MY FAVOURITE FOODS. But meals like these can be the reason behind someone being unable to understand why they're gaining weight/ unable to lose weight. Because the food is healthy, it can lead one to disregard its calories, causing weight gain, as one doesn't feel the need to moderate what they eat for the rest of the day (in the way that they would if they ate junk food), because what they ate was "healthy."

  2. Ok, I'm totally addicted to this channel. The recipes are amazing, but right now I just want to comment on something that may seem superficial, but to me is awesome. I LOVE all the music you guys use! I wish there was a compilation of all the songs you use in your videos! Along with the awesome recipes and beautiful looking food it really inspires me to cook like mad and try everything! Thanks guys!
