Doesn’t it seem like dairy is in everything? From keto recipes to high-carb snacks and candy, there’s some kind of milk product in so many things that we eat. This usually isn’t a problem if you’re not allergic or intolerant to dairy, but it’s becoming more popular to avoid dairy when going on a low-carb diet. What should you do if struggle with lactose, dairy proteins, or are simply avoiding dairy to bolster your success — especially when you are on a diet that typically consists of a lot of dairy like the ketogenic diet?

Although most people tolerate butter, feel free to substitute avocado/coconut oil for butter, and coconut cream for cream in any of our other keto recipes. Doing these 2 things will typically make most keto recipes dairy-free without any trouble. Though you should be especially attentive of any dairy-free substitutes, like cheese. These can be quite high in carbs so if you are using them, make sure to double-check the nutrition label.
